Full-day workshop on Wu Qin Xi (Five Animal Frolics). 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Morning tea provided — please bring your own lunch. Members $5, non-members $40.
Friday evening workshop exploring the importance of warm ups in Tai Chi practice. 6:45 pm – 8:30 pm. Members $5, non-members $40.
Celebrating World Tai Chi & Qigong Day — One World, One Breath. Join us as part of a global hour of practice, connecting people worldwide through Tai Chi and Qigong to promote health and wellbeing.
Friday 23 May 6-8pm: Ming Mu Gong – Eye Brightening Exercises (refresher). Saturday 24 May 9.30-4pm: Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong Shi Er Fa – The 12 Movements of Daoyin Health Preservation. Morning and afternoon tea included, BYO lunch.
All welcome to participate in a Qigong demonstration, starting 10am sharp. This demonstration held in place of the Saturday morning class. Wet weather venue: Puke Ariki foyer.
Tai Chi/Qigong Instructor Orlando Garcia will take both Workshops (Fri & Sat) with the topic: Ming Mu Gong – Eye Brightening Exercises. Practitioners who book the workshops and attend the AGM are invited to a fully catered lunch.

Simple and easy to learn for all levels of ability. This set of Dao Yin (Qigong) is the first set of two sequences created by Professor Zhang Guangde. The first set of eight exercises follows the concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the theories of Yin Yang, the Five Elements, Qi Energy and the Meridian System. Wednesday 22nd: Public Lecture on the impact of Tai Chi for people who have compromised health (free event), and Short Workshop on Ba Duan Jin – the 8 Pieces of Brocade. Thursday 23rd: Long Workshop on Ming Mu Gong.

One day workshop with Orlando Garcia concentrating on Knees and Hip Care. The day split across three key areas: Foundation Routine for Qigong & Tai Chi Practice, Main Points in Knees & Hips Care, and Introduction to a new Qigong set for the lower body.

Thousands of people around the world joined together to practice Health Qigong at 10am their local time creating a wave of qigong in 43 countries across five continents, beginning in New Zealand and ending in Canada. A free public class/demonstration as part of this worldwide event.
Health Qigong Weekend Workshop with Instructor Orlando Garcia, Director & Principal Instructor, Wushu Culture Association, Auckland. Da Wu Health Qigong – The Healing Dance. The graceful relaxing dance-like exercises of Da Wu, an ancient qigong, originated from the Tang Yao Period (about 4,000 years ago) and is a health-preserving method which channels energy through the joints and meridians.
World Tai Chi Qigong Day held at Kunming Gardens, Brooklands Park, New Plymouth, at 10am. This is the day and time when people and communities all over the world share Tai Chi and Qigong. People from other schools and the wider community shared Tai Chi, friendship, and a cuppa at the Tea House on the Lake afterwards.

Womad festival goers taking part in the free tai chi classes. The Taranaki Tai Chi Chuan Association has been providing this unique system of health and self defence for near on 30 years and is involved in a number of community initiatives to encourage people into learning Tai Chi.

Tai Chi instructor Judi Lee has taught Tai Chi for the past 30 years. Hawera participants Kathleen Meyer and Lynne Walker are a couple of the many who have experienced health benefits. Tai Chi started in Hawera in May as a trial. Today, many of the participants are convinced it has changed their lives.
Hundreds of years ago the hand-fans Ellie Arbuckle uses for tai chi would have had razor blades in them. Now razor blade free, the forms and movements she practices are virtually the same as they were 100 years ago. Arbuckle was one of about 30 people practicing tai chi at the Japanese gardens in Brooklands Park on Saturday, as part of World Tai Chi Day. Starting at 10am, New Zealand was the first country in the world to kick off the day.
